The Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving

In spite of the detail that the United States (U.S.) still exceeds many other industrialized nations in overall crime and violent crime, it has been effective in lessen its crime rate, particularly during the 1990s. While some coalitions have attributed this supportive development to changes in socio-demographic trends and rigid enforcement approaches, one coalition highlights the success of the confederacy-oriented policing (COP) and problem-oriented policing ( step to the fore) in eradicating the root causes of crime (Stephens, 2003).

COP is premised on the quislingism between the community and the legal philosophy. As described curtly in the previous section, COP is based on the establishment of a partnership between the police and the community. With this collaborative approach, two the police and the community are expected to adopt sassy perspectives about their roles with regard to law enforcement. In COP, members of the community are challenged to take responsibility for addressing the problems within the community and improving the property of life.

Typically, police officers respond to a citizen's call about drug occupation by simply arresting the perpetrator. However, the COPPS officers also engage in a thorough assessment of the situation.
