Every one in society were affected by alienation. In Varieties of Exile ,the author shows that people ar anomic because of political reasons and argon forced to live in a place where they are not familiar with. There are different types of exiles in society precisely in this report the three main are emotional , ethnic and racial exiles. Emotional exile is a type of exile which the people of a country do not speak with refugees and these foreigners scram lonely and depressed because of having no one to dialogue to. I was nineteen and for the third time in a course of instruction engaged to be married. What I craved at this rouse was not love ,or romance ,or a life added to mine, but conversation which was harder to find.(570 Gallant) In this fiction the main character, whose name is house finch and is so young, faces an emotional exile because she has no one to talk to and she wants to find a solution for her loneliness by cosmos married.

Although it shows an immature kind of attitude but it is societys alienation toward her that makes her act like this. Humans are natural with the instinct to communicate and be in society and when they are rejected from society ,they become depressed so she loafer not be blamed. Another important exile is cultural exile which is caused because of the difference in values, religions, habits. In the story , which is during the randomness world war ,Linnet has difficulty trying to adjust herself to the innovative culture and place.
