The age of consensus and compliancy of the 1950s was an event that the US has never experience before. The US has been used to having an industrial region, the north, and an agricultural region, the south. The age of symmetry made it so the country had one common finale no matter where you went. One affair that caused the age of conformity is the television. The television made it so everyone could see and hear how to act, so everyone did exactly what they were told. One thing that the television taught populate was that women should bridle at home, in the kitchen, cook, and take care of the kids. This message world portrayed on TV is what exactly everyone in the 1950s thought. The human beings conformed to ideas like this because it is easy to listen to someone else, follow their ideas and non make up your own. People began to realize that they were conforming and that the US population was practically being brainwashed. The first group of race to realize that there were problems in society and decided to alteration it were the African Americans of the south. They were tired of the racism they were facing so they changed the complaisant norm.

They did things like protest and the first thing major thing that blacks did to change the status quo was the victory of Brown vs Board of schooling trial that established desegregation in schools. This was the first of numerous changes to the society made by the blacks. The other group of people that changed the status quo were the teenagers.
